My kid loves the park. Swaying in the big swing and trying on the different slides. My attention was caught by a little boy shouting tirelessly and running around like someone’s chasing him. His mom kept tagging around to secure his safety then exhaustedly sat beside our swing with my 1 year old. She said that her kid has an ADHD. It is an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder known to have affected more boys than girls. For me to fully understand her woes on her little boy, she said that it is a genetic disorder of unknown cause. The right person to diagnose him was an evaluation coming from a Developmental Pediatrician. He goes around with no particular place to go and never compose his attention even in 5 minutes. His toys never stay long and he can be agitated anytime, anywhere. Kids with this condition act without thinking, are hyperactive, and have trouble focusing. They may understand what’s expected of them but have difficulty following through because they can’t sit still, pay attention, or attend to details. I realized that with proper public education on this disorder, kids like him needs great understanding and patience to get him act properly.
